Nice!Not So Nice
πŸ‘ Family & couple-friendly atmosphere
πŸ‘ Dine up in the sky
πŸ‘ Malaysian palate dishes
πŸ‘Ž No free-flowing espresso-based coffee
πŸ‘Ž Booking through WhatsApp
πŸ‘Ž Parking can be a challenge

Booking

Booking is also rather old-school, with me needing to reach out over WhatsApp to secure the booking.

Payment is also quite manual, with me banking the money into KL Tower’s account, before they issue me a receipt and booking note.

However, unlike Marriot Putrajaya, at least they actually got back to me on the receipt.

Parking

Parking is unfortunately, a problem here. Be ready to have to do a bit of walking to make it to the tower.

I found myself driving around for parking, only to have to park about 150 meters from the tower entrance.

One good thing is that the path is covered in plastic grass, making the ground softer and easier to walk on. Parking is RM5 per entry.

Going In

Going in is a simple process. I simply walked up to the staff members on the ground, and showed them my booking note. They then ushered me to the lift, and shot me straight up to the restaurant.

The moment the lift opens, its a clear indication you are at an Iftar Ramadan. A staff will check your tickets, and show you where to sit.

KL Tower’s Iftar dinner is at Temu, which is different from the revolving restaurant. That’s Aras. Temu is more like an banquet hall cum event space, without the revolving floor.

Dining Atmosphere

Ramadan Iftar At KL Tower

The dining atmosphere is excellent, with beautiful Raya themed deco well done around the dining area. The guests are generally well dressed, with many also donning their:

  • Baju Melayu,
  • Baju Kebaya, or
  • Baju Kurung.

There are also children, and they are not running around and all, but are well behaved throughout the dining experience.

As you dine, there is also a live band, playing and singing classic Raya music to keep the atmosphere alive and festive.

Ramadan Iftar At KL Tower

Overall, it has a upscale Kenduri type of atmosphere, which makes it excellent for families, dating couples or friends.

Ramadan Iftar at KL Tower serves the dishes you would expect from a buka puasa event, plus a little bit more. Expect to see these:

  • Roasted lamb, served by roasters in small batches,
  • Ulams
  • Satay, Lemang, ketupat palas dan rendang,
  • Classic Malay meat dishes – curries, gulais, etc.
  • Cakes and traditional kuihs,
  • ABC, cendol, ice creams,
  • Vietnamese rolls, Shawarma, and,
  • More.

Overall, unlike in international hotels, who tone down flavors of their dishes for international audiences, dishes for Ramadan Iftar at KL Tower are cooked closer to Malaysian palates.

The taste is more intense, which should be tastier for local crowds. I enjoyed them much too.

Must Try Foods

Some of the must try food, which I found to be well made are:

Ramadan Iftar At KL Tower

Vietnamese Spring Rolls

The skin is thin and soft, and the rolls contain classic Vietnamese roll vegetables like carrots, coriander, vermicelli noodles and more.

Theres also a decently sized prawn and surimi (crabsticks) in each rolls.

The flavors are fresh, with the vegetables giving crunches to the texture. The prawn adds some good taste to the dish, while the sweet chilli sauce rounds out the package.

Siput Sedut Masak Lemak Cili Api

I’m not exactly a huge fan of siput sedut, but I am a fan of masak lemak cili api. I like my masak lemak cili api with daging salai, but this will do.

The masak lemak is not too intense, compared to the ones you get in Negeri Sembilan.

Its rich, delivers a punch, but not to the point typical Malaysian could not handle. I enjoyed the kuah with my rice a lot.

Sotong Goreng Kandar

The sotong goreng kandar tastes not too far different from those you see inf your favourite nasi kandar joint.

The differences here is that the sotong is bigger here, and the sotong rings are cut thicker, meaning you get more sotong per ring you picked up.

Flavors wise, its spicy, crunchy, and well seasoned. It tastes excellent with I had it together with white rice and the kuah from my Masak Lemak Cili Api.

Shawarma

The shawarma wrap is soft, and the chicken is well seasoned and flavored. KL Tower also sliced the shawarma in half, so its easier to eat.

The best of the shawarma to me however, is the garlic sauce. Theres a some sour, tang to the sauce that injects some freshness to the whole shawarma, making it very enjoyable.

I just wish they would slice the Shawarma down to bite sizes, so that they become easier to eat.

Observation Deck After Iftar

My Ramadan Iftar at KL Tower ticket also comes with observation deck visits, which in usual visits would cost you a bit.

I went to the open air deck, and enjoyed the night view and skyline of Kuala Lumpur. Took a couple of pictures too to mark the occasion:

Ramadan Iftar At KL Tower: Great Experience

Overall, the Ramadan Iftar at KL Tower is a great experience, marked with excellent deco, dining atmosphere, and more Malaysian-adjusted dishes.

It is a nice place to Buka Puasa in an ‘Atas’ manner, 200+ meters up in the air while enjoying the night skyline of Kuala Lumpur.
