Booking
Booking for Ramadan Iftar at Sheraton PJ is a straightforward process. Simply purchase a ticket at Sheraton PJ’s website, and then WhatsApp the contact to confirm your date.
Again, I wonder if there is a way to take out the WhatsApping part, and simply have an interface to lock in dining date.
Just be careful when you book – Sheraton PJ hosts two separate Iftar events, one at the ballroom (which I attended). The other one is at one of its restaurants.

Parking
Sheraton PJ itself is a large building, which means parking is a breeze. You can either drop the car at the lobby for the valet to handle, for park your own.
Valet charges are at RM30, while self-parking starts at RM5 per hour.
If you opt for the latter, there’s plenty of spots, so no worries on this. Park, and walk to the lobby to ride the escalators, and you’ll be a the the lobby at no time.
Going In
I parked underground, and walked to the nearest escalators to go up. I then saw the Pinnacle business tower, before turning left and seeing a couple of Japanese stores.
Walk out the main entrance, and you should see Sheraton PJ’s main lobby.
You should see two signs, one directing you towards the Iftar at the ballroom, and the other towards the restaurant.
For Ballroom iftar, hop on the lift, and go to the second floor. Once the door opens, you should see a clearly laid out pathway that will bring you to the check-in counter.
Scan your tickets, get your wristbands, and you are in for Ramadan Iftar at Sheraton PJ.

Dining Atmosphere
One good thing about Ramadan Iftar at Sheraton PJ is the relatively good atmosphere.
The space is large, which means you do not have overcrowding problem, unlike the ones I experienced at Le Méridien PJ.
There’s also no overwhelming smell of Kambing Bakar too.
The dining tables are inside the hall, while the foyer is used to set up the food stations. The tables were neatly laid, with comfortable chairs and proper coverings.
Overall, a serious atmosphere for Iftar, yet relaxed enough for family, friends, colleagues to gather. Dating couples too to think of it.
As you dine, there is a local band playing some Raya-themed music to entertain the crowd, although at some point, they started belting out rock-kapak stuff, which I think may not suit the occasion too well.

In fact, this is probably one of the most relaxed Iftar I’ve been to, after the one in KL Tower.
Menu
Expect to see all the food you would expect to see at a Ramadan Iftar here, plus more:
- Satay, Lemang, Rendang, Ketupat,
- Sup daging, bihun and mee sup,
- Lomak salai dan asam podeh,
- Kambing and daging bakar,
- 5 gulai kawah dishes,
- Pasembur,
- Chinese style chicken rice,
- Goreng tidbits (pisang goreng, cekodok,)
- Kuihs and desserts.
The only thing I think is missing from the menu is again, espresso-based coffee, similar to the Iftar I went to at Marriot Putrajaya.

Must Try Food
Generally, the food is prepared well, with its flavors toned down to adjust to an international audience. Aside from that, you’ll also notice the desserts and kuihs are not too sweet too, which to me is perfect.
Here’s a couple of dishes I enjoyed, and recommends for you to try:
Satay Ayam
The satay is well made, without the usual ‘shortcuts’ of skewering in chicken skin. The marinate has a slightly stronger hint of lemongrass (Serai), which to me tastes great.
The kuah satay is also thick, and is able to stick to the satay very well. The kuah is also on the sweeter side, which I enjoyed too.
Opor Daging Pekan
Likely one of the best dishes from the evening, the Opor Daging Pekan is one of the kawah dishes Ramadan Iftar at Sheraton PJ serves.
I paired my Opor daging with some white rice, and ayam masak lemak.
The beef is soft, and hours of simmering has ensured the gravy’s flavors seep deep into the beef slices, giving you that great soft texture and taste.
As for the taste the Opor Daging here is slightly sweeter than the ones I eat outside, but I see it as a twist in the taste.

Kambing Bakar
The kambing bakar here is well made. kambing bakars are about the same anywhere you go, but its the finer details that makes the difference.
In Ramadan Iftar at Sheraton PJ’s case, its the way the kambings were cut. While eating the kambing bakar, I did not bite into any chewy bits, not tough beats where the meat lines get stuck between my teeth.
Instead, I get soft, easy to bite and swallow kambing bakars. The black pepper sauce is also excellent, adding a twist of heat to the kambing.
Kuih Bakar
The most memorable dish for me from Ramadan Iftar at Sheraton PJ is the Kuih Bakar. A simple dessert dish, but I enjoyed it so much, I had three.
Lower quality kuih bakars tend to have a wet flour-like texture, and are usually sweet, without much additional flavors. But the ones here.
The texture is softer, and that I can really taste the egg yolks from the kuih bakar, meaning the kuih maker did not held back on the eggs when making them.
it is also not too sweet, making it an excellent kuih to cap my dinner here, washing it down my a cup of Nescafe tarik.
Ramadan Iftar At Sheraton PJ
Overall, I found the dining experience here a significant improvement from last years. The menu offerings increased, while the dishes have improved in taste too.
I can see all sorts of people enjoying themselves here – be it for family gatherings, colleagues, or dating couples.
